A cruise ship captain is a licensed mariner who holds the ultimate responsibility for the vessel he or she is commanding. In addition to the operation of the ship, captains oversee the passengers and crew. A ship captain is the final authority for everyone on board including officers, mates, crew and passengers.

Enlisted Sailors are members of the Navy or Navy Reserve who serve in an occupational specialty that requires a high school diploma (or GED) as a minimum educational requirement. Their responsibilities range from entry-level to Enlisted supervisory, advisory and managerial roles.
